The word microLED is not in anyway new to the world of display technology. Sony has been dropping hints about it as early as 2014 even before Samsung introduced a wall-sized TV that uses the latest innovation at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). However, at 146 inches, the wall-sized display is something that is relatively new in the industry. As the name suggests, a microLED uses millions of micro LEDs that are even smaller than those used in LCD TVs today. MicroLED is hinted to be the latest display technology that will be commercialized after the OLED debuted in 2008. It is reported that this new innovation to LED walls is designed to match the OLED in black levels but with superior brightness and color compared to any other display technology ever invented. On top of these, it is said to have abandoned the viewing angle and uniformity issues experienced in LCD.   Can microLED Replace OLED displays? Unfortunately, the issue with microLED is its manufacturing. Various reports claim that the screens are far more difficult to produce compared to OLED displays , to the point that even Apple nearly retracted the development the previous year.   Another challenge is that every time LEDs are shrunk, the amount of light they produce is also reduced – and, pushing them harder can only lead to more issues such as high power consumption and possibilities of overheating. Putting the band equipment on sale only means that fans can own a piece of the band’s history through their instruments including the Theremin that Mike Shinoda used in their live performances in 2010, and a megaphone Brad Delson used in 2011. In addition to these, the band is also parting ways with its multiple exclusive models of the Open Labs Neko XXL computer keyboard workstation, marking the first time that a gear built specifically for Linkin Park is offered to the public. The auction already went live on April 4 and the proceeds will benefit the non-profit organization the band founded, Music for Relief. Keith Richards’ Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard - $977,000 Image Source: Gibson Purchased second hand by Keith Richard, the sunburn Gibson Les Paul was considered the holy grail of all electric guitars. It was used by the Rolling Stone guitarist throughout the band’s US tours from 1964 to 1967 before it was sold to Mick Taylor who, two years later, joined the group. The guitar seemed to have been lost for some time until it resurfaced under the ownership of a private collector who bought it for a little short of $1 million in 2003. 4. Bob Marley’s Washburn - $1.4 million The 22-fret double cut Washburn was one of the seven guitars Bob Marley owned in his lifetime. It was first given as a present by the Jamaican musician to his guitar technician, Gary Carlsen. But, the latter, who founded a charity in honor of the late singer, reportedly sold the guitar to the Jamaican government for about $1.4 million. Bridgestone Arena is a multi-purpose venue in Tennessee and is home to the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League. At present, the arena is undergoing renovations to bring huge improvements to this 22 year old venue. Reports revealed that a multimillion budget has been allocated for the upgrade. Based on the information found in the Predators’ official website, renovations of the arena will include new LED ribbons inside the bowl, upgrade of the control room, addition of LED lights, and installation of a new sound system.
